I’m in a big work cycle lately, so I haven’t had much time to write. But I have had time to read. Here’s some of my favorite spots to visit.
My friend David Wright has challenged himself to write 30 ekphrastic poems in 30 days- a terrifyingly daunting task! So far, he’s off to a rockin’ good start. I think I need to relinquish my Haiku Buckaroo status…
Remember David Byrne, the lead singer of the Talking Heads? Well, I’ve been a huge fan for years. His music always challenges my perception of the world of music and the world at large. On his blog, he’s got a post about an art project he’s working on, collaborating with David Hanson to build a robot. What you may not know about David Byrne is that he’s a RISD art boy, and has always been a visual artist, not just a quirky rock-n-roll guy.
Extreme Craft is always worth a look see. In this recent post he’s tackling the new craft debate- there’s a growing divide between the “high art” crafters and the DIY crafters. Garth seems to have a good take on this here.
The Aesthetic Elevator is another blog I try to read daily . I really, really loved this post on Bruegel, although I’m a little late spreading the love on this one. Also, check out some of his new ceramic work.
Finally, for a daily dose of cultural commentary on a wide arrange of subjects, you can’t go wrong at Ayjay’s tumblelog More Than 95 Thesis. If you subscribe you gotta keep up, the pace is quick!
