Still Learning to Take Time Seriously

Hey Y’all-

I don’t have much time to post (and I have at least two other topics I want to write about), but I wanted to share a little before I went to bed.

I’ve still working on my new relationship with time (That whole “inhabiting time” thing). I can’t say that it’s still not a struggle, but I’ve had a few nice moments…

Biking to work is still something I balk at (I think Lainey must be getting really tired of my asking her “are you going to need the car today?” first thing every morning). But it turns out I really enjoy it once I get going. Today I heard a red-tailed hawk from across the marsh. Yesterday–and your going to have a hard time believing this–I ambled. Yep. You heard me. I rode down the street making little “s” curves as I went. And at a lazy summer’s pace at that. And you should see the marsh right now. If I can remember to take the camera, I’ll post some pics soon.

Peace, y’all

  1. There *is* something about biking, isn’t there? My silver bullet and I, one, the inexpressible exuberance of the thing. Ah.

If only I didn’t need to sweat to maintain body temperature requirements for humans. Oh, and didn’t bring my five million pound computer home with me.

  2. Yeah, I thought I’d solved that computer problem with the aid of the memory stick- until I got home and found my powerpoint pics couldn’t be seen in my older home computer.

And then there’s the weird relationship between the biker and the driver. Seems half of the drivers are glaring at you because they think you should be on the sidewalk. The other half zoom by so close you think your going to get conked in the back of the head by the rear view mirror!

Still, I am learning to love it, and I’m not at all bitter…
